Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

At Caeli(operated by Caeli, Inc.), we believe in total transparency about how our browser extensions and website operate. This Cookie Policy explains how and why we use cookies, web beacons, pixels, local storage, and other similar tracking technologies (collectively, "Cookies") when you visit our website or install and use the Caeli browser extension.

For a comprehensive explanation of how we collect, use, and protect your personal data — including our strict HIPAA guardrails for health-related information — please review our official Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies and Tracking Technologies?

  • Cookies:Small text files placed on your device by websites or extensions to "remember" certain settings or details.
  • Local Storage / Session Storage: Technology that allows a browser or extension to store data directly on your device. We use this heavily inside the Caeli extension to securely cache FSA/HSA eligibility rules locally so the tool remains lightning-fast without constantly pinging our servers.
  • Tracking Pixels / Affiliate Redirects: Unique web links or code snippets used by our merchant partners to verify that Caeli introduced you to their store, allowing us to earn our referral commission.

2. Our Core "No Shadow Tracking" Promise

Unlike other shopping assistants, Caeli operates under a strict rule: we never engage in passive or "shadow" affiliate tracking.

  • We do not drop commercial tracking cookies or inject affiliate codes silently in the background.
  • Affiliate tracking cookies are only initiated when you make a conscious decision to interact with a Caeli product recommendation or click a button to activate your benefit wallet on a merchant site.

3. The Categories of Cookies We Use

Category A: Strictly Necessary Technologies (Always Active)

These core technologies are essential for Caeli to function securely and perform basic services. They cannot be disabled because the platform cannot function without them.

  • Extension Performance & Core Rules (Local Storage): Used to cache HSA/FSA eligibility guidelines locally on your browser so the extension can display instant eligibility alerts on product pages.
  • Secure Payment Processing & Fraud Prevention: Handled by our third-party payment infrastructure providers (such as Stripe). These technologies secure card entries and detect fraudulent behavior.
  • Identity & Session Management: Services (such as Auth0 or Clerk) that securely manage your account sign-in state, preserve your custom settings, and protect your account session.

Category B: Affiliate & Attribution Technologies (Activated by User Action Only)

These tracking links and cookies allow us to remain a free service by helping us secure referral commissions from merchant brands.

  • How They Work: They are only set when you actively click on a Caeli product recommendation or apply your benefits at checkout.
  • Providers Include: Major affiliate networks and platforms, such as Amazon Associates, Impact, ShareASale, and CJ Affiliate.
  • Privacy Guardrail: These attribution links are strictly commercial and never contain clinical questionnaire answers, medical health data, or LMN details.

Category C: Analytics, Session-Replay, and Advertising Technologies (On by Default; Opt-Out Available)

These cookies help us measure extension performance, optimize our user experience, and power our marketing outreach. They load by default to help us monitor app stability. You can opt out of the analytics and session-replay technologies at any time via our cookie banner; our advertising attribution (e.g., Google Ads conversion signals) is used only to measure ad campaign performance and is not governed by the banner.

  • Product Analytics & Optimization: Technologies (such as Google Analytics and Mixpanel) that collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data to show us how users navigate our features and tutorials.
  • Marketing & Advertising Conversion Tags: Conversion trackers (such as the Google Ads Tag / Pixel) used to measure the efficiency of our ad campaigns and support our marketing workflows.

4. How You Can Control Your Cookie Choices

You are in complete control of how your browser manages tracking technologies:

  • Our Cookie Settings Banner: You can access the cookie preferences banner on our website at any time to explicitly opt out of, customize, or disable Category C analytics and performance cookies.
  • Your Browser Settings: You can configure your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) to block, delete, or alert you about cookies. Please note: if you completely block all cookies, certain features of Caeli (such as secure Stripe checkout, saved wallets, and login sessions) may not function properly.
  • Browser-Level Tracking Signals:Please note that our site does not currently process or respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) or "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) automated browser signals. To manage your preferences, please use our on-site cookie banner or adjust your native browser cookie settings directly.
  • Uninstalling the Extension:You can completely stop all extension-related local storage and tracking instantly by uninstalling the Caeli extension from your browser's extension management dashboard.
  • Your Broader Privacy Rights:To learn how to exercise your overarching data rights (such as requesting the deletion of your account or accessing the personal data we hold under laws like California's CCPA/CPRA), please visit our Privacy Policy.
